“There’s something happening and you don’t know what it is” – Bob Dylan, “The Ballad of a Thin Man”
When speaking about innovation, we better rephrase it: “something’s happening and we do know what it is.”
It is a disruption, in almost any market segment.
Apple disrupted the music industry, Uber the taxi business, WhatsApp the entire wireless industry, Airbnb the hotel business, Square will disrupt the financial business, and so on – you get my point. It seems that the pace of innovative solutions is going faster and faster.
“Innovation is the lifeblood of successful businesses”, according to Virgin owner Richard Branson. Lacking innovation is cutting the lifeblood from your business and the outcome is certain. Ask Nokia, Blackberry, Microsoft, and others.
This mind mapping software looks into the best practices for successful innovation. Like finding the bug(s) of a product or service. Once you know it, it will be the first step to innovation. From techniques like the brown paper lunch up to mind mapping. And yes, innovation requires some luck. However great companies capitalize better on their luck (an excellent book on this topic is Great by Choice by Jim Collins and Morten Hansen).
Concerning innovation: the more you try, the luckier you’ll get.
